Hepplewhite painted settee

Painted settee with a bowed and moulded crest rail and padded arms on fluted square tapered legswith carved paterae on spade feet. Painting refreshed to original colors.
George Hepplewhite (1727-1786) published “The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Guide”, the final edition of which was published in 1794 well after his death. His designs owed much to the work of Robert Adam (1728-1792) as they are all in the neoclassical style.
