Stylized Cloisonne Animal Sculpture

Stylized cloisonne animal sculptures like this are typical of the Qianlong era (1736-1795). The Emperor Qianlong was fascinated by the luxurious color of the Chinese cloisonne or “Blue of Jingtai” and he commissioned large quantities of incense burners, flower baskets, sculptures with floral or animal motifs and ceremonial vessels decorate the imperial palace.
