Three tier padauk dumbwaiter

A fine Chinese export three-tier dumbwaiter made of padauk with a turned stem, having a tripod base terminating in vigorously carved ball and claw feet with brass casters. According to the Avant Courier (February 25, 1771), the dumb waiter was an English invention that soon spread to the continent (The Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture, by Ralph Edwards.
