A painted neoclassical open armchair in the manner of John Linnell circa 1770 having a carved
molded oval back with arm rests having carved acanthus and Greek key and a tufted arm rest
with shaped arm supports carved with acanthus over a chair rail alternately fluted and with
turned rosettes resting on shaped turned legs with a collar over a spiral twist on flutes stems
over a reeded ovoid shaped foot. The design is English but it may either have been made in
France or by an emigre French cabinetmaker as the crest rail in the oval is held between the
stiles, not resting atop the stiles.
