Walnut and Parcel Gilt Palladian Mirror

This mirror is of very high quality with beautifully figured walnut and an exceptional quality swans neck cresting, with foliate attachments centered by an acanthus and c-scrolled carved cartouche of unusual depth. The sides with gilt pendant foliage, the upper and lower sections with egg and dart border, the mirror plate within a foliate carved and gilt slip. It is unusual to find a William Kent design mirror of this style with a flat apron. Condition: Gilding largely original, with some molding replaced. The beveled rectangular mirror plate original, but re-silvered with some faults.

English, c. 1730
