Carved and Gilded Bracket in Style of Daniel Marot

A superbly carved and gilded baroque bracket in the style of Daniel Marot, English or French, dating circa 1700 having a shelf with gadroon molding resting on four double c-scroll brackets centered with a carved female visage of Venus crowned with stylized feathers set into s-scrolls with acanthus. A bracket with a similar visage can be seen in “The Dictionary of English Furniture”, 1927 and1954. Ht. 12 1/2” W. 13 5/8”, D. 7 1/2”
