Carved Rococo Looking Glass with Pagoda Top

A superb and finely carved rococo looking glass frame circa 1755 having a carved pagoda top of acanthus leaves resting over double s-scrolls framing a carved rabbit, with flanking c-scrolls with rocaille, the outer frame being made up of c-scrolls and s-scrolls with carved foliage and acanthus leaf terminations centering at the bottom with double c-scrolls, the inner frame of carved rocaille with columnar sides. Glass is of the period but not original. Gilding is dry stripped and refreshed—repairs to some carving and front of pagoda. Ht. 57”, W. 29”
