Cocus Wood Games Table, circa 1730
A fine George I games table veneered in cocus wood in a chevron pattern on the top and vertically on the frieze, the legs of modified cabriole form with pad feet, the table opening out with a concertina action to allow the four legs to be at each corner, having inset cups on the interior with a felt surface and the whole banded in cocus wood. Cocus wood (Brya ebenus) is a Caribbean/South American timber—this table being a superb example having terrific fading. Circa 1730. Ht. 29 1/4”, W. 34”, D 17”
