Mahogany Chair with Carved Oak Leaf Decoration

An extraordinary and rare carved mahogany side chair circa 1755, likely part of a dining room set, having a sensationally carved back consisting of carved oak leaves and acorns in the crest rail, the outside edge of the crest and side rails carved with ribbon and flower molding, the back splat of unusual design with a carved swag over four pierced quatrefoils held within c-scrolls carved with foliage having an upholstered over seat, the front with carved cabriole legs also having carved foliage and terminating in ball and claw feet.
